Hardware compatibility improvements for "Windows 7 installation to the modern computers" feature.

Starting from this version, VGA emulation patch for UEFI loader skips GOP video modes which are advertised by UEFI firmware but do not fit into the firmware-allocated framebuffer. This fixes black screen problem for recent nVidia GPUs whose UEFI Option ROM truncates UEFI GOP framebuffer to 1024x768 but leaves higher-resolution video modes in the UEFI GOP mode table.

  • Windows Setup on USB scenario, FAT32 filesystem: when OS installation image is larger than 4Gb and compressed in solid mode, FlashBoot no longer emits WIM split error.
  • Bootable clones: when FlashBoot fails to duplicate original security descriptor to the target filesystem on a USB storage device, this is no longer a fatal error.
  • UEFI-related scenarios: when user-supplied ISO file lacks 64-bit UEFI bootloader (due to third-party customizations or x86/x64 confusion), ISO file is rejected outright at the Wizard phase, rather than later at USB storage device formatting phase, with reference to missing WindowsBootEFIbootmgfw.efi in installation WIM (as in the previous FlashBoot versions).

FlashBoot 3.4​

Starting from this version, FlashBoot Pro can prepare Windows 10/11 installation USB thumbdrive (or install Windows 10/11 to USB thumbdrive in ToGo mode) with two types of privacy improvements (enabled independently of each other):

  1. Politely ask Windows 10/11 to phone home less. These registry tweaks reduce Windows 10/11 background connections, though they don’t eliminate such connections entirely.
  2. Inject privacy enhancing DNS proxy: a lightweight service that can block the following types of Windows 10/11 unwanted network activity, based on your preferences:
    • Windows builtins: Telemetry, Windows Update, MS Defender and SmartScreen, Cloud Logon & MDM Enrollment, Windows Push Notifications, Windows Store, Parental Control and MS Licensing.
    • Separate products: Cortana and Speech API, XBox, Zune and Groove, Cloud Graphics Apps, MS Edge, MS Wallet, Skype, OneDrive and MS Office 365.
    • Miscellaneous: Remote Access / Remote Help, MS Cloud Search, MS Maps and Location Services, MS News, Weather and Ads.
      If you tick all checkboxes within this option, this will make Windows 10/11 stop phoning home completely. That is, you can make Windows 10/11 completely quiet on the Internet — if you want to.

  • FlashBoot Pro Bootable/Installable Clone features no longer rely on the WMI console for managing the lifecycle of Volume Shadow Copies. This change was required because Microsoft had removed WMIC.EXE starting with Windows 11 version 25H2.
  • The Windows 7 UEFI loader patch was improved to properly handle systems where UEFI firmware exposes multiple GOP (Graphics Output Protocol) handles, some of which are unusable. Previously, this used to cause an error message: "UEFI GOP protocol has unsupported pixel format". Starting with this version, this error should no longer occur.
